seven micro-influences for success: a year of lessons

As a newly formed company, we reflect on the past year, and in this reflection realize that it was filled with valuable lessons in loss, love, renewal, courage, and strength. One of the most significant lessons we learned from 2022 is that the definition of "success" is subjective and evolves rapidly as we grow and move closer to our goals.

To us, success requires fundamental shifts in thinking, keeping us centered, focused, and mindful. It is an ongoing practice of balance between showing up for others and ourselves, a journey that is both messy and rewarding.

Upon deep contemplation, we have identified seven micro-influences that have led to early successes in building and growing our company. These micro-influences continue to evolve and expand as we reach new heights:

  1. Knowing and staying true to our intrinsic values.

  2. Being held accountable by others and holding them accountable in return.

  3. Embracing vulnerability and using it as a source of strength.

  4. Remaining open to change and listening to others' perspectives.

  5. Diligently working on continuous improvement to achieve mastery.

  6. Taking time to sleep on big decisions and considering their ripple effects.

  7. Managing our energy effectively to sustain productivity and focus.

For the new year, our focus lies in consistency, diligence, and staying level-headed. We aim to build upon our foundation, growing stronger while adapting fluidly to what matters most at any given moment. Our mission is to trust our intuition and allow these seven areas of focus to guide our actions and decisions.

There's a common sentiment among CEOs that discipline is more valuable than motivation. In practice, however, it's not as straightforward. Both discipline and motivation are intertwined, and each day, we operate on different frequencies. Some days are challenging, while others bring ease and accomplishment.

The truth is, there's no one-size-fits-all formula for success, and no approach is superior to the other. What matters is the belief we hold in ourselves, our commitment to moving closer to our goals, and the positive thoughts and words we tell ourselves to keep going.

"Success" lies in investing time, energy, and capital, no matter what challenges or doubts we face. As experts and athletes in our respective journeys, we are determined to persevere and listen to both external voices and our inner selves. Our thought patterns and words play a crucial role in shaping our actions.

We have come to understand the significance of "just showing up." While showing up is essential, we must also remain focused on why we show up and who we show up for, recognizing the impact our actions have on others. Our investments in energy, thoughts, and relationships will yield dividends in the future.

Today, I encourage you to consider your investments in energy, thoughts, and the people you surround yourself with. Embrace the ever-evolving definition of "success," as it will come to you in the way you define it. As you continue on your journey, remember that every step you take brings you closer to the success YOU envision.
